Leslie P. Brigham 11/30/51 - 4/25/12

Brigham, Leslie P. 60, of North Lake Drive, Barrington, RI, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 25th, surrounded by his loving family. Les is the beloved husband of Maria (Acciardo) Brigham, his wife of 37 years. Besides his wife, he leaves behind a brother, Raymond Brigham of Swansea, MA, two daughters, Rayna Brigham of Barrington, RI, Diana Nolan of Bristol RI, and granddaughter Bridget Nolan.

Born in Providence, Les was the son of the late Raymond and Vilma (Lombardi) Brigham. He graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1973 with a degree in accounting and subsequently earned his license as a Certified Public Accountant. He worked for two other firms and then began his own accounting firm in Providence. After the deaths of his parents, Les took on the family business along with his brother as owner and President of Touisset Country Club, Inc.

He was an avid golfer and participated in many tournaments and events. He was well liked among the members because of his down-to-earth personality and his sense of humor. A man of strong faith and a true family man, Les was a loving and caring father, a thoughtful and devoted husband, a great brother, a wonderful brother-in-law, a helpful and caring son and son-in-law and a good friend. His easy-going and generous spirit will be deeply missed by the many people whose lives he touched.

The funeral will be held on Saturday at 10 AM in the Smith-Mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Avenue, Riverside, RI, with burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence, RI. Calling hours are Friday 4 to 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1180 North Main Street, Providence 02904, would be appreciated.

Our History

Raymond Brigham and Richard Weller began the construction of Touisset Country Club in 1960, a family-run endeavor that sought to convert the grounds that were formerly used as farmland.

Since 100% of the construction was done by hand, some of the natural occurring hazards were left out on the course. Some of which include large boulders that provide a truly unique experience. After only one year, the first rounds at Touisset were played late in the summer of 1961.

Although TCC is a 9-hole track, that doesn't necessarily make it easy. The course is of average length, but it can be quite challenging. Once voted one of the most difficult 9-hole courses in New England, Touisset presents a test to golfers of all levels. The greens are Pentcross bent grass and boast some tricky reads.

The original farmhouse barn is now used as TCC's main building. In it houses the Pro Shop, Club House, and Maintenance Facilities. We offer yearly memberships, leagues and associations for both men and women. Touisset is still a family owned and operated business that offers many amenities to our members that you just can't find anywhere else. We are one of the few courses left in New England who allows private cart membership and storage. We also have youth golf clinics in the summers and multiple USGA accredited instructors on staff.
